Goldenrod, Riddell's - Solidago riddellii

Solidago riddellii, also known as Oligoneuron riddellii or Riddell's Goldenrod,  is a perennial plant native to southern Michigan. Some sources also suggest this plant is native to the Lake Michigan shore of the U.P.. Riddell's Goldenrod is a clump-forming plant of wet areas, growing to 3 feet in height. An attractive and unusual plant, Riddell's Goldenrod has overlapping leaves that drop to highlight the bright yellow flowers before the plant turns orange and displays tufted seed heads that are highly attractive to birds. 

 

Pairs well with Great Blue Lobelia and perfect for rain gardens and shorelines.
